A homage to the famous Hanhart-Tutima Flieger Chronogrpah Watch

Luftwaffe Flieger Chronograph

From the WWII era, the Luftwaffe Fliegerchronograph pilot’s watch was issued to Luftwaffe pilots, notably pilots of the Stuka diver bomber. It was first produced in 1939 by Hanhart, a Swiss-German watch company that was established by Johann A. Hanhart in Diessenhofen, Switzerland, in 1882. Then followed by Tutima in 1941, which was then known as UROFA-UFAG (Uhren-Rohwerke-Fabrik Glashütte A.G-Uhrenfabrik Glashütte A.G, a German watchmaker established in 1927 in Glashütte, Saxony, produced the Flieger chronographs and become the first German two-pusher flyback chronograph.

Several versions of the watch were made by both firms, though the most well known is the two-button flyback chronograph, the cal. 41 and cal. 59 by Hanhart and Tutima respectively. Hanhart also produced a monopusher chronograph using its cal. 40. Despite the variations, these chronographs typically had several traits in common: black dial with Arabic numerals, a 30-minute counter and poire squelette (skeleton pear) hands. Although the knurled rotating bezel is more distinctive, the chronographs were also made with fixed, smooth bezels.

POLJOT – a historic Russian watch brand that has its roots in the Soviet era. The name "Poljot" means "flight" in Russian, and the brand was established in 1961 as a subsidiary of the First Moscow Watch Factory.

In its early years, Poljot was known for producing watches for the Soviet military and space programs. The brand's watches were used on numerous space missions, including the Soyuz and Salyut missions, and even on the famous Apollo-Soyuz Test Project, which was a joint mission between the United States and Soviet Union in 1975. Poljot was also a pioneer in the development of mechanical chronographs, and its Caliber 3133 movement was widely used in Soviet and Russian military watches.

Vintage watches are traditionally smaller than today's watches. Men’s watches typically measure between 29-36mm wide (some larger, some smaller) excluding the crown. In the listing details we typically try to do our best to list all pertinent dimensions of a watch. If you don't see it, or we failed to do so, please reach out to us. Women’s watches from the 1900s-1970s were also much smaller than today's offerings. Please also feel free to ask any questions you have pertaining to size.

We prefer to shoot photographs outside when weather is permitting. However, when we shoot indoors, please be aware that we shoot our photographs inside of lightboxes that are lit with 360 LED bulbs. This indeed magnifies any flaws. Usually, they are much less obvious to the naked eye. Having said that, we never photoshop any of our photography, remove blemishes, etc. We adjust lighting when necessary, but what you see is what you are getting, and we take pride in that.

The condition is pre-owned.

The item may have some signs of cosmetic wear but is fully operational and functions as intended.
Please review the photos and feel free to ask any questions you may have.
